Glock 43x Double Stack Magazine - Tyrant Designs is a manufacturer of high quality US Made CNC machined AR-15's and hand made upgrades and accessories. They recently sent me two of their Glock 43X and 48 +4 magazine extensions. When it comes to magazine extensions, what determines whether they are good extensions often depends on how much they do with the gun. In addition to that measure, I know how they change the carrying experience compared to regular magazines.
My first impression of expanding the magazine can be summed up in one word - truth. As a former machinist myself, I know the quality of CNC machining that goes into these parts. Although they appear to have many solid corner edges, they are cut at a gentle angle to prevent nicks or cuts when holding or holding.

The anodizing works very well and is resistant to normal wear and tear but if you put too much effort it will wear off - not permanent but enough that it won't wear off with normal use.
Glock 43 Vs 43x: A Face Off
As for the features, I give these a solid 9/10 - they look great when paired with the Glock 43X and Glock 48 I own. Magazines are located with the width of the grip and extend down for the entire height of the rifle only in this configuration. With other colors, I think a different look, but in black and silver the Tyrant gun looks good.
This is the most annoying part of dealing with magazine extensions for Glock pistols. For most pistol magazines, all you have to do is press the button on the bottom of the magazine and move the trigger plate. With Glock magazines, there are two small tabs on the right and left side of the magazine body, to extend the base plate, which must be engaged with the button below to push the spring base up.
There are tools out there to do this but I ended up using channel locks to secure the pages. Even with the channel locks, it takes a lot to overcome the slight pressure on the hard plate to remove the original baseplates.
Once the original plates are removed, installing the Tyrant Designs extensions is very easy: just change the follower from the old spring to the extension spring, install the spring and follower, and then close by extending the magazine.

Dictator is easy to open with a small clip on the back of the extension that can be lowered with a hard push of a cardboard box or other sturdy object - no style restrictions.
The magazine extensions work as advertised. I had trouble loading these up to 14 rounds. With a little practice, it's not a problem but the last round requires a lot of pressure to get there. Even with extra pressure, the magazine is closed with a slide but will not fall automatically when pressed.
I did a couple of tests to see if the magazines reflected the normal operation of the rifle. When fully loaded, magazines are hard to stay in and won't fall out. However, it looks like you can load the magazine with up to 12 rounds and just let it out of the gun. With more rounds than that, the magazine inside the magazine is better. This seems to be a problem with Glock magazines, combined with the extra spring pressure that occurs around the bottom of an OEM Glock magazine.
When loaded to capacity, the sides of the magazine are raised to keep the magazine in the gun. This may be a problem for some, but for me it's a minor problem as I don't see myself falling for full size magazines. In normal use, the springs provide the necessary pressure to properly feed the gun and secure the slide to the rear round. When the magazine was empty, the mags fell apart as usual - probably faster than stock magazines, probably due to the weight of the extensions.
Glock 43x Pistol Review By Pat Cascio
One thing I have noticed is that having the rifle extenders will prevent you from cutting your hand between the magwell and magazine well when reloading. . I find it easier to hold magazines with the extenders attached.
The biggest downside to expanding the magazine is in the hidden compartment. When mounted on a Glock 48, it adds about 2 inches to the height of the gun. The waist is the hardest part to hide, as is the natural oval shape of your waist. When they are hidden under the regular shirts I wear, they make a bad impression.
TFBTV's James Reeves gave us a scientific explanation of the effectiveness of concealed carry guns. Possible results are as follows:
It is calculated as the product of sq/in and rounds per oz. This does not depend on the overall length of the piston, but on its quality. Thin/short frames and high light guns will work well here. Higher numbers are better.

The Glock 48 holds a 0.79-inch 10-round magazine. With the increase of the magazine, the effective number is reduced to 0.76 which is not a huge reduction. This puts the Glock 48 on par with guns like the SIG Sauer P228, Glock 26 Gen 3, and the SIG Sauer P320 compact. The main thing that helps to reduce the effects is the high altitude.
I suggest that if I were to carry these magazine extenders I would carry them in a pocket or magazine holster as this would reduce the negative effect of concealment when inserted into keep out. Of course, you can break this part of the solution by adding large magazine extensions, but in the end it defeats the purpose of a secret weapon - the real deception of the system.
I think the Tyrant Designs +4 would be a great addition to your Glock 43X or Glock 48 for everyday shooting or as a backup magazine extender. They don't add weight and provide a little grip for people with large hands.
I can't carry these items as an EDC kit, but I take them to the range with me and keep them at home. The method I use for carry does not lend itself to a holster larger than the Glock 48 it currently holds. It's a good idea to have extra loaded magazines and I think loading them at home or in your car or on your person because extra magazines is the best way to go.

I have carried a Glock 19 concealed carry for about 18 years. The first few years I worked. After that, I got our state version of the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act, and I got a license to carry a state belt and sling.
I first started carrying concealed handguns in the 1970s - remember Jimmy Carter, double inflation and unemployment? Well, I started doing that then, and before he was cast as a movie star.

With that in mind, I was surprised to find that the Glock 19, a portable device by design, is not a carry for most people. And, when I really thought about it, it made sense. If you are in a normal environment that is not stable - no illness or illegal transportation or a work requirement - but if you are working with people who have that terrible fear of materialism, When is "small" too much? He came to hide.
In miniature pistol racing, people hope for the best by going with the jump on the smallest pistols. Unfortunately, how good are the guns?
